The Soundtrack
Music plays a major part in the writing of this story. As I write from each character's point of view, I would often play songs that match the personality and/or thoughts and sentiments of the character, or for some reason remind me of the character. This helps me maintain the unique perspectives of each character, which can be a bit of a challenge since I switch from one personality to another. Some songs were sung, played or mentioned in the story—those I indicated with an asterisk (*). One or two songs are suggestions by a couple of readers, and yes, I do welcome song suggestions.
Occasionally, the song is what plays in my head when I envision a certain scene between the characters, and since the scenes I envision include scenes in the future--meaning scenes I have yet to write--then it's safe to say the songs are also spoilers, so SPOILER ALERT.
The music is a mix of English and Filipino songs, by Filipino and foreign artists and bands alike. All Youtube links are credited to their uploaders/creators, and all songs are credited to their performers/composers. I own none of the songs or the videos.
The songs are arranged according to no particular order. Also, this is by no means a complete list. I will keep adding on to the song list.
In the meantime, just click on the links below and enjoy!

Ivy's Playlist
As Long as You're There, by Charice
(from the Glee second season finale) Hands Clean, by Alanis Morissette (song suggestion from a reader) You Raise Me Up (Inori), by Lena Park (I love the English version of You Raise Me Up by Josh Groban, but the Japanese version of the song—translated here—just matches Ivy so much more. Also, I highly recommend the anime series that song is featured in, Romeo x Juliet. Just prepare to bawl your eyes out at the end.) I Did It For You, by Charice (featuring Drew Ryan Scott) Crescent Moon, by Charice Don't Stop Me Now, by Queen* YMCA, by The Village People* Hawak Kamay, by Yeng Constantino (Title roughly translates to "Holding Hands" or "With Our Hands Held". English translation of the lyrics here.) Sometimes, by Skillet Harbor, by Vienna Teng Gravity, by Vienna Teng A Little Too Not Over You, by David Archuleta (Well, take it from Ivy's point of view, of course.) I Know Him So Well, by Elaine Page & Barbara Dickson (It's not a 100-percent fit, but somehow the emotions and lyrics fit Ivy in a way.) I Will Always Love You, by Whitney Houston (It sticks my craw to put something so maudlin here, but the sentiment is so accurate, so I might as well go all the way with this.) You're the Reason, by Jojo When I'm With You, by Faber Drive |

It's a sweet love song about two lovers in the rain. English translation of the lyrics here.) When You Love a Woman, by Journey Habang May Buhay, by Wency Cornejo (Title translates in English to "While I Live" or "While There is Life". A song of complete devotion to your loved one. English translation of the lyrics here.) What's Left of Me, by Nick Lachey
(this Rozen Maiden AMV by NekoHikaruChan was what inspired me to take Sakurada Jun as Migs' anime/manga alterego) So Many Questions, by Side A Should've When You Could've, by Skillet I Do It For You, Nick Lachey Tuloy Pa Rin, Neocolours (Okay, I know this doesn't really go with the story, but somehow the song just hits me in all the right places and helps me get in the mood. Oh well, whatever works. For an English translation of the lyrics, go here.) Hold On, by Side A If You're Not the One, by Daniel Bedingfield Don't Let Me Go, by The Click Five Your Call, by Secondhand Serenade The Geeks Get the Girls, by American Hi-Fi (The song isn't really Migs, but I do sincerely agree with this song. Guys like Migs are treasures. ^_^) Don't Wake Me, by Skillet Say Goodbye, by Skillet You and Me, by Lifehouse If My Heart was a House, by Owl City Tulog Na, by Sugar Free (Title translates to "Go to Sleep". Such a sweet song. Unfortunately, I can't find an English translation, but if you compress the lyrics, they go something like this: "Go to sleep, my love. Let us leave the world behind for now. Go to sleep, my love. Don't cry, the bed is soft. You can worry later, for now leave them be. They can't hurt you any more, so go to sleep. I'm here, I'll take care of you. And maybe tomorrow you'll smile again, and we'll face the world together.") |
